You know so much needs to be said in our society today about staying focused I mean it's like staying laser focused and committed. To the things you should be committed to or focused on amidst the chaos and distractions in our world today. You know a lot of people say to me Vince man I'm having a tough time I'm having a hard time. Ah, staying focused I having a hard time sleeping at night I can't focus the way I should and these doctors you know these doctors you know all they do is recommend some sort of medication. There has to be a better prescription. You know, then the mads and so I would say first you know this year in 2024 um, and none of that new year motivational stuff were really stick and work.

I would say beyond the spring if you had a hard time focusing and staying motivated in a way. Um, you know this 2024 New Year knew you. Motivational stuff probably won't even work for you. You won't be able to sustain that that's a fact so the first thing I would say to you know this year whatever you should be or thinking about focus on or whatever you set. At the beginning of year that you want to accomplish just stop talking about it. Don't even say what you're going to do just get in a mode just get in the mode of just doing it just doing the thing that you know you should be doing start out doing that. And then you prove it not only to everyone else you prove it to yourself. You prove that you are willing to get there by doing the necessary work. That's right? No, no sugar coating here. Folks. You know there's a there's a bit of shift here on the out front for the rest of the year actually - that there will be a little bit of a shift here. So, get ready for some raw uncut truth. That's right, get ready for some raw.

A little rough around the edges today can we get real today. No matter who you are life throw distractions at us left and right but if you're serious about crushing your goals. This year you've got to be ruthless in your focus. So today I'm hitting you with 5 harsh no-nonsense steps to keep your eyes on the prize to help you follow 1 course until success. That's right, follow 1 course until successful as focus. So, you know when I think about being focused, I am often when I think about focus, I think about being. Hyper focus and you know that hyper focus is a term often used to describe an intense state or concentration of focus on a particular task or subject for an extended period.

When someone is experiencing hyperfocus they are able to block out distractions and become deeply absorbed in what they are doing often to the exclusion of other tasks. Delma or even the most important people that's right, that's right other people you see this state of heightened attention can lead to increased productivity. And the ability to accomplish a great deal within a relatively short period of time so number one I would say to you slash and burn those to do list that you did at the beginning of the year just slash and burn them because we are getting ready. early this year for some spring cleanup. We're doing some serious spring cleanup on that to do list to start with no more fluff. No more time-wasting tasks. So just slash and burn. Everything. That doesn't contribute directly to the goals in which you said you wanted to accomplish this year if it's not pushing you forward. It's holding you back. So, it's time to be brutally honest about.

Where your time is going where are you allocating your time. What are you still wasting your time On. Let's be honest and you start being honest with yourself. What are you still allocating your time to that doesn't. Support your goals because again, if it's if it's not pushing you forward. It's holding you Back. So, I need you to seriously think about. The things you're still wasting your time on that that the things that that that you're still giving your attention to so you're still wasting your time on that thing that don't even support your goals are they habits. But what activities are you doing or are the man-made intentional distractions that consistently pull your way from what you truly want to achieve you see my friend most distractions. Are intentional. They serve an intended purpose. They are very intentional to pull your way. So why aren't you more intentional. Why aren't you more intentional with the thing that you want to accomplish in your own life. You see. It's crucial.

For you to identify time wasting elements and take proactive steps to minimize or eliminate them from your life whether it's excessive social media just scrolling around on the internet YouTube procrastination. Or engaging in unproductive conversations with other folks that doesn't really amount to anything come on God we got to be honest with ourselves this year so recognizing these time sinks is the first step towards regaining control. Over your focus and your energy are you willing to do that because if you're not willing to do that. You're not taking the necessary first steps towards regaining control over your focus and your energy by consciously. Reallocating your time and attention to activities that align with your goals see. It's about alignment most of the time we're just out of alignment and we don't even have a clue so by consciously now reallocating your time. And attention to activities that align with your goals. There has to align with your goals until you do that you can't pave the way for greater productivity and progress.

Ah, fact, remember your time is valuable and oftentimes you have to train other people in a way How to value your time. Your time is valuable so we should use it wisely to support our aspirations in a way and our ambitions. You know that's not that's not being selfish, but you don't. Waste anyone's time and you won't allow your time to be wasted with things that really don't amount to anything and those things that take you further and further and further away to that which you said you want to Accomplish. You see your time is one of those commodities. You'll never get back once. It's Gone. You never get it back number 2 It's time to go on a distraction diet. That's what I call a distraction Diet. So. You know we're surrounded by a world designed to grab our attention and to keep our attention if it can so again like I said social media and you know these individuals they refer to them say of as.

Social media influencers. What are you influencing? What? What do you line it up with to influence you to do? What is it is it consistent with what you're trying to accomplish or is it just in it. A distraction. So. So you know this around the clock smartphone notifications and beeps and bells, and all these things are going in the middle of night. There are distractions that that chatty co-worker who's into everything. And they want to share it with you. That's a distraction that's the distraction and the truth is you made yourself available and other people know. That you always make yourself Available. You made yourself available and it's time to put other folks on notice that you're on a distraction Diet. So, limit your stream time turn it off. You know. No none of those non-essential notifications turn it off and then you start with setting clear boundaries with yourself. It starts setting those boundaries with yourself and then you set clear boundaries.

But all those other energy vipers in your life. That's right, they are energy vipers. You know some, you've been trying to figure out it will at the end of the day you feel so depleted. Well, the fact out is because of those distractions. Statues will deplete you they will deplete your energy and you don't have enough energy to focus on the things that you really want to focus on energy vipers in your life. You can't afford distractions any longer. That's a fact you can't afford distractions any longer because time is running out time is running out and these energy vipers are steal in your dreams. They are still in your dreams right in front of your eyes. You can't even figure it out. But guess what today the day is you figured it out. The energy vipers are still in your dreams right in front of your eyes. Number 3 it calls for a brutal self-audit that you got to be willing do a brutal self-audit. You know it's time for a brutal self-audit.

Look at yourself in the mirror I've been through it look at yourself in the mirror and ask the tough questions are you really putting in the work. Are you just pretending. Are you a real contender or are you a pretender for your dreams. Are you making excuses or are you making progress. Be honest with yourself. You got to be honest with yourself and this year if you've never done it before it starts this year look in the mirror and ask yourself. Are you a real contender or a pretender for your dreams. It starts with you because until you do that. You start making all sorts of excuses because certain things are not happening the way they are not happening. You see you can either. You can either have excuses or you can have results, but you don't keep you don't get to keep both. You can either have excuses or you can have results, but you don't get to keep both. Are you a real contender or pretender of your dreams are you making excuses.

Are you making real progress. It's time to cut through the self-deception you a deceiver of yourself and today is time to cut through the self-deception. No more lies. No more games. It's your future on the line. We can have all the excuses in the world. But your future is on the line. And when you act like your life is on the line, I can't tell you how many times I've been there when you act like your life is on the line an unparalleled sense of determination takes over. Ah, can't tell you how many times I've been there suddenly every obstacle every distraction and every excuse fades into insignificance and you start to say to yourself. This Bs right here this bull crap where here that you're talking about is meaningless I got more important things to spend my time with.

That people no longer can use you as a dumping ground with their distractions your actions not just your words and nothing can stand in the way of your relentless pursuit of them. Each moment is infused with. A sense of urgency propelling you to take bold decisive actions towards your goal you operate different, and everyone begins to know it. Yeah, something different something different is happening. And it and they don't just start paying attention to what you say they start paying attention to how you move in how you nab you move in different this year you operate with unwavering focus channeling all your energy into the realization. Your aspirations. Everybody starts to see that as you embrace this mindset you become unstoppable forging ahead. An unparalleled drive and conviction.

Towards your goals. That's it that is it and you don't get there with the excuses and you don't get there. By making yourself available to those energy vipers’ number 4 it's to commit. You must do the work. You got to commit to doing the work. You must be committed to. To form in new habits. That's realigning you to your goals your dreams and your ambitions you got to form new patterns of thinking new habits and you don't you get there by putting in the reps. You get there by doing the lapse you get there by getting me in early hitting the gym that's in the physical and mentally mental perspective right? that that's getting the cardio in folks achieving your goals. It's a marathon. Not a sprint you won't get you won't get there overnight but it's a marathon one step at a time one block at a time one mile at a time It's not a sprint you got to.

Consistency is your secret weapon. Let's be consistent. Some Dave you're not going to feel like it. You're not going to want to do it, but you do it anyway, you do it anyway. That's why we call it discipline and you never get to anything consistent with consistency without any discipline. But that's the part of the process. No more starting and stopping starting and stopping. You know there's some folks I know without any judgment I love them the same but they always starting and stopping starting and stopping. Whole life. There's a pattern of starting and stopping starting and stop getting a little bit tough a stop starting and stopping they always into something new yet never completing anything. No more starting and stopping. Lace up those commitment sneakers. They lace up those commitment sneakers not Nikes lace up those commitment sneakers and get ready to run get ready to run those marathons 1 step 1 block one mile at a time. That's how you get there.

And then there may be some extra training miles in there. But guess what the blessing is always in the extra mouth. So, success favors persistence. Success favors persistence you got to be persistent because success will always favor the persistent not the quitters. Number five, last but not least it's time to make some hard choices I've been there, and the truth be told I'm still making the source of heart. Prioritization choices to this day but it's time to make some painful prioritization. Sometimes that's ah, that's a hard choice but you must decide. What's more important your dreams or the temporary comfort of procrastination your dreams or the history you have with the same few people when you really pay attention. They have been the energy vipers in your life.

That's contributing to the reason why you are that's contributing to where you are today or part of that you see if it doesn't align with your goals. It's a destruction cut it loose even if it hurts even if you have an history with someone. It doesn't mean you don't you don't love you loved them many differently that means is that for this period. We may not be spending as much time with one another cut it lose even if it hurts but you've got to be willing to make sacrifices for your life if you want it, you got to be willing to make sacrifices for your life. If you want it see some of you've been making the energy vipers a priority in your life. Can I tell you this. Unless something changes some of you got to realize that you are sleeping right next to an energy viper.
