Saturday Jul 31, 2021
Saturday Jul 31, 2021
In this special bonus episode, we'll be talking about: Conflict in the workplace and offer up a bit of guidance and actionable steps to take on conflict de-escalation.
There is no doubt that most of us have been in different forms of conflict throughout our lives and especially so in the workplace. When we talk about conflict escalation, we want to highlight that not only has the intensity of the ongoing conflict risen, but also that of the approaches being employed. A shift in the intensity of conflict is usually driven by reactions and interactions, external forces and/or by the involvement of additional people. That is, as conflicts surge, the number of individuals involved increases as well. As much as conflict escalation does not always directly translate to violence and destruction, the threat of rougher and tougher times tends to heighten. That is why, the comprehension of the stages of conflict escalation is important especially in the conflict de-escalation process.

We had the distinct pleasure of having with us Dr. Don Trahan, Jr, an experienced global diversity practitioner, and keynote speaker with a history of working within higher education, nonprofits, and corporates alike to include the US Government.
In this episode, Dr. Trahan discusses the topic of diversity and inclusion engagement inside organizations. Although many organizations have gotten better at recruiting and retaining diverse talent, there is still much progress to be made in the area of inclusion. Many still lack ethnically and gender-diverse leadership teams, despite the strong evidence that doing so will increase an organization’s overall performance.
Dr. Trahan makes the case that executives need to pay attention to these often neglected and marginalized groups and provides concrete ways organizations can create initiatives to change attitudes and perceptions, and ultimately create a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

Saturday Feb 20, 2021
We spent some time in this episode discussing the idea of —
“Building the inner resilience to remain focused, flexible, and productive, during difficult times”
“When you organize your mind everything else falls in line”
When we talk about mental health we are talking about “a person’s condition concerning their psychological and emotional well-being. I happen to believe — that in certain communities and as well as society as a whole — we don't understand enough about mental health and the positive or negative impact on certain communities — because we don't truly give enough attention to the matter and the fact that somewhere on the spectrum of adult psychopathologies there are so many conditions that go improperly diagnosed and or mistreated — it isn't a priority of things in our society on our list of things to get evaluated —as in our physical health or appearance. This is true even from a leader's perspective.
Mentally healthy people often:
- Enjoy life and have the ability to laugh and have fun more
- They can deal with stress and bounce back from adversity.
- They feel a sense of meaning and purpose, in both their activities and their relationships.
- They are flexible and adaptable to change...
- And for the most part, they tend to build and maintain fulfilling relationships.
We discussed how resilience is your ability to honestly cope with the circumstances and bounce back from stress and adversity, and hopefully even grow through the experience — and so much more!
